Rutgers-New Brunswick switched to the durable recycled plastic lumber offered by Sister Bay Furniture to replace the faded black mesh furniture that had been a mainstay outside their student facilities for 12 to 20 years. To give vibrancy to the common areas of six student facilities throughout campus, 356 furniture pieces, including Summit Chat Chairs and Hudson Dining Sets, were produced in dark gray frame with red slats. The addition of sustainable furniture made it popular among students and faculty.
